Sailing on 36 Canal, also known as the “Gates of the Danube Delta”, you will be enchanted by the richness of vegetation that surrounds you. This channel, about 10 metres wide, is an ideal habitat for various bird species. Little and great egrets, cormorants and grey storks will greet you on this enchanting journey.
Trofilca Canal – Encountering Bluebirds
Entering the Trofilca Canal, you will enjoy a narrower but equally enchanting route. Here, blue gulls will accompany you on graceful flights, complementing the beauty of the delta landscape. This area will give you an authentic insight into the natural bird habitat of the Danube Delta.
Northern Sireasa Canal and Cotețe Lake – An Oasis of Peace and Biodiversity
As we head towards the North Sireasa Canal, you will find yourself in the middle of a true oasis of tranquillity and biodiversity. Lake Cotețe will greet you with yellow and white water lilies and its shores will be populated by various species of birds. Departure from Tulcea: 36 Canal – Gateway to the Danube Delta
Sailing on the 36 Canal, also known as the “Gateway to the Danube Delta”, you will be greeted by an explosion of colours and sounds from the natural world. Here, you’ll have the chance to spot an impressive variety of bird species, including small and large egrets, cormorants and grey wrens, as you enter the heart of the Delta.
The Old Șontea Canal and Meeting with Local Fishermen
Entering the Șontea Veche Canal, we reach the La Scăunele platform area, where there is a fishermen’s hut. Here, you will have the opportunity to connect with local traditions and understand the way of life of the fishermen of the Danube Delta.
Exploring Lakes Nebunu, Băclănești and Furtuna
We continue our journey through Lake Nebunu, Lake Băclănești and Lake Furtuna, delving into spectacular natural landscapes. These lakes are home to amazing bird species such as pelicans, swans and more. You will have the privilege of observing them in their natural habitat, giving you an authentic experience of exploring the biodiversity of the Delta.
Oasis of Beauty in Mila 23
A stop in Mila 23 will give you the chance to get a deeper insight into the culture and traditions of the Danube Delta. Here, you can choose to indulge in a traditional fish lunch, served by locals and prepared with fresh local ingredients. Alternatively, you can explore the village steeped in history and soak up the beauty of the architecture of the Russian-Lipovian houses.
Return to Tulcea via the S22 Canal and Sulina Branch
Returning to Tulcea, we will cross the S22 Canal and the Sulina Branch, continuing to admire the beauty and diversity of the Danube Delta. As we approach the end of our journey, we will be taking with us wonderful memories and a greater appreciation for the values of nature.

Sailing on the 36 Canal, you will be greeted by an explosion of colour and life. Here, lush vegetation and rich fauna, including small and large egrets, cormorants and grey stingrays, will welcome you at the start of your journey.
The Old Sontea Canal and Enchanted Lakes
As you travel along the Old Sontea Canal, you’ll enter a lakeside paradise. From Lake Nebunu to Lake Fortuna, you’ll have the chance to see graceful pelicans, elegant swans and other birdlife that find refuge in the tranquil waters of the Delta.
Fishing Lunch and Village Tour Option on Mila 23
A stop at Mila 23 Village will allow you to enjoy the hospitality of the locals and an authentic slice of Delta life. As you relax in the authentic village atmosphere, you can enjoy a traditional fish lunch or explore the architectural beauty of the Russian Lipovanian houses.
Hiking through Letea Forest and Musura Bay
We stop in Letea, where the food tastes of history and tradition. During the trip you will also have the opportunity to explore the beautiful Letea Forest, a fascinating place where you will encounter ancient oaks, sand dunes and maybe even wild horses.
Sulina – Free Time 1.5 h
We continue our journey on the Sulina branch, where the old and new lighthouse watch over the mysteries of the sea. In the fine sand amphitheatre of Sulina Beach, time stretches in a melody of waves, and here you have 1.5 hours of dancing with the sun and the sea.
Or, with an open heart for adventure, we can walk the alleys of Sulina’s harbour and discover the tourist treasures of this enchanted place. Here you can visit Musura Bay, where the sea breeze will greet you and where, with any luck, you may spot dolphins out at sea.
Final Destination: the entrance of the Danube into the Black Sea
